Post New geese and goslings
A long held dream to put geese on the farm came true on Friday - we bought a gander and 3 girls and 5 goslings :D They are a pilgrim type with Dad being solid white with just a pearl grey touch above the legs. The girls have a bit too much white on them but we are not concerned. The five goslings are the cutest things but we are not really getting too much time with them as the Dad and 'Mums' are super protective.
Excuse the bad photos but they are locked in for a little while to get accustomed to the place and to protect the babies. This is taken an hour after putting a clam shell in the pen which they delighted in - the babies can't get in so are safe from drowning.
The true pilgrim is autosexing but all these goslings are patchy yellow and black but on looking at their beaks and the down i reckon the close up photo is a girl with the one next to her in the group shot looking very yellow being a boy - then I reckon that might be the tails of two girls and I didn't get the fifth one in a photo. Apparently the down is very yellow and the legs and beaks very pink for boys while the girls have dark beaks and legs and the down is more olive. Funny I have looked at them in person and can't decide but it seems much easier looking at the photo ;)

Very awwww when I found them tonight - 5 goslings tucked up warm on Mum's back in the wing folds :D
