Hi there

Chooks can eat salt bush but DONT give it to them in large amounts. Still, I would wait for others apart from myself to comment.

hmmm, i will probably steer clear of the salt bush,
well back to weeding my rellies gardens for free greens, the things you do for your chooks hey! im sure they think im nuts, but they certainly dont mind my weeding their gardens for them. :throw
into the garden today, its school holidays and im putting my boys to work, we need more greens planted for the chooks. its a beautiful day, i get to spend time with my kids and hopefully teach them something, and we all get to play in the dirt. :D how cool is that.

Plums in Michelago near the old railroad stop... three varieties, one purple/black, some yellow/organge and some greengage.... about a city block sized patch!! plenty for all.

Glad to. But you'll have to wait till next year, Most of this years crop is in my spicey plum chutney and plum jam - not to mention the vacola bottled plums (yes-real men DO use vacolas), and plums dried by me. We'll be eatings the bastards for years.

Actually its a great spot. Its in the old railway goods yard at Michelago. Some old fettler probably spat the pit out of his lunch box 100 years ago and they have just taken off. Pity of it is - no one else but us picks them. Go figure!!!!!!!

Tanya or I will post here when they are "on" next.

We should make a day trip of it next year! I kinda know Michelago, enough to find places if directed.

I want to do a mass drive around to pick all the apples on the roadsides at some point early next year, too.

EDIT: Ok, some research says (depending on variety), plum season is December (for the earlies) though to April for the later varieties, which coincides nicely with apple seasons- I see an opportunity for scrumping!

I'm making an assumption here, from looking at a google earth image, is the old Michelago goods yard sort of at the Southern end of Ryrie Street near-ish the creek?
