Post Advice on slaughtering steer wanted
Hi all,

I've got a steer on the Gundaroo common that I want slaughtered. I can't have a mobile butcher come out to the common to slaughter and hang the steer so I'm looking at my options.

I have a friend that has 5 acres in Bega that I could take it to and then get a mobile butcher in but that means transporting it down and leaving it there for a couple weeks to de-stress from the move?

Anyone know of a solution closer to Canberra? Maybe an abattoir?

Guy

Hi Guy,
Welcome to the forum (we are Gundaroo locals too)
You have a couple of options, one would be to relocate it onto a property & get a mobile butcher out.
Option number 2 is to contact the Bungendore Butcher & they have set days every fortnight that you can drop it in the yards @ Bungendore and it goes on the truck with their steers to the abbatoir then you get the meat back around 12 days later :)
Hope that helps & if you have any other questions don't hesitate to message me.

We get all our stock done via a butcher at Gundagai. He does outstanding work and is very accommodating.

The only issue with him is that for a cow you need to get it to Yass Stock yards on the Sunday evening or first thing Monday morning.

Can provide the info if you are interested.
