Post Bellerose Dexter's
Bellerose Dexters Finest - Duns cows - Black cows we are proud of our girls as when we first got them they were in worse for wear condition it has taken us three years to condition them to the standard they are now with love and good feed. :clap All three you see here in photo's are currently carry calves from a Red Bull
We also have 2 other black cows that carry the dun gene currently being impregnated by a Red Bull and a Black Bull that produces Dun calves. Will post photos after they calf as it will be very interesting to see what they have

They are looking really good.

We love that type of conformation and have purchased our foundation stock to give us the best possible chance to maintain it.

I'm on a real genetic mathematical run at the moment and would love to work out your percentages of calf colours if you will let me?

All I need is pedigree names and I will go back through the parentage.

Would you mind? :D

Well that's it, not letting any calves be born at this time of year again. :D

We had a bull calf on Thursday evening.
Cai had a bullcalf (I assume) on the hot stinking Friday, and you guys had a bullcalf on Sunday.

Indi is due any moment now, I'm now going down to tell her to cross her legs for a week

Talk about a one in a million chance of this happening.

Today our Hot Chocolate gave birth to a healthy little dun heifer calf :clap

Why is this a one in a million chance you ask well the sire was a red bull and the dam a dun. It is a known fact up till now that the calf whatever sex be born the prominent gene is RED therefore the calf should be by a genetics theory a red calf but instead out pops one of the most amazing little heifer calf to walk this planet, as we proudly have a beautiful dun heifer calf.

Not only are we proud as punch to adore this little girl but we have proven genetics wrong in the fact when it comes to domineering genes and bloodlines :throw

As we raise a glass to our success we only have to say well played Hot Chocolate......well played :drunk

Posting photos soon!!!

Awww it wasn’t quite a one in million chance, well not really. ;)

The Red Bull you used is (obvious now after the fact) carrying dun. :P

Reds can carry dun, but you wont know unless you colour test them for dun (TYRP1) OR they produce a dun coloured calf.
Black is the dominant colour with Red and Dun both being recessive to Black.

You have one more calf due soon, yes?
Was it the same red bull over one of your other Dun coloured girls?
If so, you have a strong chance of having another dun coloured calf in your paddock – and how wonderful would that be. :clap

Ditto on the glass raising. :drunk

Congrats to Hot Chocolate for producing a healthy and fab looking dun coloured heifer. Absolutely fantastic!
:thumbright

You will have to keep us posted on her progress with ‘growing up’ pics.
:D
