Post Alpaca poo
One of my next jobs will be getting my raised garden beds started, these will be near the house and contain all the herbs and leafy stuff - bigger crops to go directly into the ground later on (once the pigs have very kindly cleared the patch for me). My task this weekend will be to take the shovel and wheelbarrow around to the poo piles and collect alpaca and llama poo as fertiliser. I've always been told it can go straight on the garden without burning plants, so will see how it goes :)

I am very happy that they poo in piles, unlike the blood horses  so hoping my labours will be easier!

The farm is growing... alpacas, llamas, sheep, goats, donkeys, geese, ducks, guinea fowl and chooks

Post Re: Alpaca poo
Well I have been wondering how long a pile of paca poo can last :?:
Those boys of mine sure do take pride in thier 'circle work'
And nothing seems to grow through it so I'm just not sure how it would go on the veggie patch :scratch
But organic matter is organic matter, right? :salut

Dexter & traditional purebred Jersey cattle; Dorper sheep; Berkshire Piggies; heritage rare breed chooks, duckies & guinea fowl Mad little pomeranians & Maremma dogs- & still learning about it all.

it is probably too fresh and thick in the pile for anything to grow through it, but should be great dug into the veggie patch.
