Post Aquaponics 2011
I Finally did it!

I reasembled my Aquaponics system this morning made a small change to the water outlet and pump to improve the oxygenation of the water which is what I believe killed my fish Earlier in the year.

I still have some more mods to make to the water distribution which will make things even beter for the fish but at least it is running again and I even have a coupl eof tomatoe plants in it to strat with - Im hoping the temperature will stay high enough now not to freeze the poor plants

The updated water outlet. Previously the water ran down a pipe into the tank which was too gentle. This new outlet creates a lot more turbulence resulting in better airation.

:clap Wow well done Bernie. I guess now you'll be bringing fish home with you next week. Silver Perch again?
Would it be worth your while, putting up some plastic around the tomato's just to be safe?

Well after a season of not much happening in the Garden due to unusual weather ths is the current state of the system

I have got 3 Tomatoes out of the system - Runing a watre pump every 15 minutes for 15 minutes to keep the plants happy - I never ended up getting fish this year so added a cup of moo poo every coupl eof weeks to the water -

basically it has been a bit of an ecconimoical disaster. So I wil turn the system off this week - Im going to give it a few more days as the temperature is supposed to be up around the 30's and MAYBE the tomatoes will start to ripen - if not I will pull the pin on it and pack it all away.

I didn't have the heart to evict my only surviving trout, so persevered over the winter. Happily, he survives on compost worms. I don't bother with the official trout pellets anymore.
What to grow? ah yes, give garlic a go, you've got plenty spare
The trout has grown beautifully - I think I'll get some silver perch from the Murrumbateman Field Day next month
