Post What to plant in shade?
Hi, i have an area in my back yard that is along the fence and is under some palms from the Neighbours yard that i would like to plant some fruiting plants/shrubs but im not sure of what to put there it gets full light but no direct sun every time i go to bunnings or to a nuresry they tell me that nothing will grow there because it gets no direct sun wondering if you have any ideas i live in brisbane i already have orange,mandarine,chocklate pudding tree,lemon,tropical cherry,banana trees,blueberries,passion fruit,pine apples, and assortment of vegies but you know how it is it just looks bare :D love to hear your ideas. mick

Hi Mick and welcome to the forum.

My potato bed is in a nearly full shady spot with lots of daylight, minimal sun.

For fruit you could try a different type of blueberry, and I think pawpaw is an under canopy fruit too.

My Nan always grew Rhubarb in little sun. Asparagus is another that might be worth a try.

How about a herb garden there are a few herbs that don't mind not having full sun.

Hi jayups, herbs sound good i have a few in pots around the place but a full garden sounds good thanks for the reply exactly what i needed.
