Post Olive Press?
We have around 180 odd olive tree's, well that's what they claimed when we purchased the place but have never got around to counting.

When we first purchased the place we went to the Olive expo all excited thinking we had a decent amount only to find out we didnt..... We do however have enough to make our own olive oil. The dilema that we have is that the Olive Presses are stupidly expensive.

Anyone have any ideas on cheap ones or ways to make your own?

From the couple of locals i have spoken to, they seem to get someone to come in with a mobile press but for our small amount of trees it isnt worth the expense.

Over here (SA) there is at least one communal olive press that I know of - maybe there is one near you. You just take your olives there and they press and bottle your crop. We have been told by a Greek friend (a commercial capsicum grower) that 4 trees would be enough to provide personal use olive oil so 180 trees should be quite enough :o

A bit late I know but I have just joined the forum here. I was losing bidder on several presses on Ebay so it may be worth watching there for your press. Hope it helps.
