I thought for once I might try and get a head start on the garden. High risk out my way - but with El Nino predicted for this year, I though I should give is a crack.

Sooooooo, last weekend, I planted lettuce, spinach, broadbeans, swedes, parsnip, carrot, beetroot and radish. Lets see what makes it!!!! Bit of an experiment to see what I can get away with in these cooler mountain areas.

What's everyone else got it?

I would think you would be OK with that selection, although they may take a while to germinate in cold soil. I have been told that now is the time for root vegetables.

I put peas in about three weeks ago. All the climbing and snow peas germinated but only one sugar snap pea :(
The rhubarb is sprouting. Might put some lettuce in this week.
